The time delay feature is built right into the relay. The original relay in the car, P/N 95 63 339, can run the fan after the ignition is turned off. Sometimes the relays fail, and they keep the car on for more than the 5-10 minutes after ignition off.
The solution is to replace the relay with P/N 85 22 310. In your '92 there is no need for any wiring changes. There are wiring changes required in earlier cars. The relay location is G.
Which relay do you pull to turn off the fan, and which did you replace? There are TWO for the fans - one for the low speed leg, and one for the high speed. The low speed leg has a time delay feature. The high speed does not.
