Ouch....my car sucks! I just had to have the timing chain on my car redone because the chain tensioner was 1.5 times farther out than it should have been. The car is a '92 9kT with about 98k miles on it at the time. Seeing as I was already doing the head (gasket far too worn out) I figured I would do it then too. The problem worried me ever since I read the article in the NINES magazine about it. Problem wasn't taking it apart- it was getting it back together. Everything was reassembled correctly but I couldn't get the timing chain set right- requiring a tow to the dealership for that last little bit. However, I only paid the price of a tensioner and half an hour of mechanic's time, so I got away with maybe a tenth of what that job would have cost to have it completely done professionally.
