Hi there, I usually post on the Performance BB, but my family also owns an 88 9kT, and we're having some issues with it. I know a bunch about my SPG, but the 9000 is a totally different beast and so far I have done zero work on it, so I don't know much about it. Thus I seek the collective wisdom of the 9k owners here...
Okay, here's what's wrong: the clutch pedal sinks to the floor and will not rise unless I prod it up with the top of my foot. Consequently, cannot engage any gears without grinding. Before this happened, the clutch had very little play, it would engage near the bottom of the pedal travel. Right now I can, however, with the car not running, freely move the shifter to engage all gears.
I should also add that we had this exact same thing happened before. We had it 'fixed', the car sat for a while, then I needed to drive it again. Then the clutch feel deteriorated again - engage at the bottom of the travel, and now this, nothing at all.
Also, where the master bolts to the bulkhead, for lack of better term, this has cracked. Weird, I think. The actual horizontal part of the chassis has cracked, so that the clutch master moves up and down with each clutch pedal press. This will need to be welded together again, I should think.
I can find no apparent hydraulic leaks, nothing at the master anyway, and I don't think there's anything from the slave. I will double check again tomorrow though.
So, what does it sound like? Hydraulic or something mechanical? Should I try bleeding the system?
Anyway, my primary concern now is to get the car driveable again, so that we may sell it and have some more room on the driveway and garage. Thanks for any help!
