I'm in the middle of the problem you're describing. You probably want to do three things.
First try to rebuild the master cylinder (new seals are only $20) new master can be obtained for ~$110, so if you can, rebuild it.
Then pressure bleed the system. When I did this a whole lotta crap came out of the hydraulic line.
Finally you can resort to rebuilding the slave cylinder. ($20 seals / $90 new) That's where I'm at right now. I'm planning on dropping the tranny this coming weekend and replacing the slave. I think (hope?) the transmission can be removed with jack stands and a floor jack - you'll need to support the engine somehow though, I'm using the spare tire jack for that. I removed the subframe last weekend (its a project car for me) and aside from needing a breaker bar (and shearing off a couple of bolts) it was just fine, make sure though you have metric sockets and wrenches up to 19mm. The driver's side subframe swings down really low, but its only two more bolts to pull it off.
good luck!
