In the dashboard there is a little cabin air sensor. It looks like a little bullseye of holes. There is a little fan in there that draws in cabin air past a temperature sensor. It also draws in dirt and dust. Sometimes the fan stops working, and sometimes the sensor gets so crudded up with dirt it can't sense the cabin air. Either way, the ACC won't know the inside air temperature and will mis-set the temp.
With the car off, look into the sensor with a flashlight. You should see a vertical bar (sensor) with fan blades behind it. Turn the car on. The fan blades should start to spin (too fast to see- becomes a blur). If they don't, assume it's badly crudded up. See if the sensor looks like a furball.
I recommend blowing the sensor clean with some compressed air. I use the cans of clean air used to clean camera lenses. If the fan doesn't spin, or spins noisily, lubricate it with a dry lube - I like the spray teflon in a carrier that evaporates. I don't like graphite because it can interfere with the sensor of fan electrics, and I don't like WD-40 or other 'wet' lubricants because they remain sticky, and trap dust.
If the fan isn't running and lubrication doesn't help, it may need replacement.
