I changed mine last summer at 165k. It was working mechanically but developed a nasty noise which was getting progressively worse. When I checked the service records (SAAB up to 125k) the fluid had been changed according to service interval but nothing extra. Since going through the hard work of replacing it I do a drain and refil of about 3.5 ltrs every oil change at 6k.
Since recently discovering how easy it is to fool the car into acting like a manual with the full boost, I am probably shortening the transmission life, but who knows. I do not give it max on 1st and 2nd and ease up to activate the change as normal but the real impact of the extra boost is most noticeable in 3rd and 4th. I do a 300 mile round trip every other weekend down secondary A roads and the car performs exceptionally well with loads of torque available for constant overtaking in these gears.
Anyway the acid test will be wether it does another 165k before the box expires again - we will see.
Use it, enjoy it and don't abuse it , be sensible on maintenance, and you could see another 70k miles.
Cheers
Andy
