If so, consider the possibility of an exhaust leak and gases are getting into your cabin. At start-up and backing up, of course you back through your fresh exhaust gases and they get drawn in by the ventilation fan. I've not noticed a rotten egg smell with any of my Saabs, but what a sweet, almost violet-like smell they emit. Just kidding. I do remember that the early cats smelled more. I hope changing to my new 3" cat in my '91 won't make it smell.
