Smell probably comes from your fuel. A high sulphur content of some crude oil used to make gasoline and how the refiner does their thing can cause this. In the US the sulphur content is low plus the Fed regs requires that it be down below x parts/million. In Canada, their base crude is at a higher level of sulphur plus refineries are not required (yet) to reduce sulphur content resulting in some of the highest sulphur levels in gasoline in the industrialized world. So I smell it pretty often out of my 9K. Some say that premium fuel has less sulphur and when I run it, it does reduce the smell somewhat. Bottom line, try premium from a different fuel company and see if it helps.
