I wanted better handling with a decent ride. I didn't want to lower the car at all, but came to realise that all the after-market springs would lower it to one degree or another. I was pleasantly surprised by the appearance and very impressed with the ride. I have the Koni dampers, also from Abbott. I don't know how the springs would feel with the standard dampers.
A number of other people on the board also have these springs fitted. Aero Guy springs to mind (pardon the pun).
There has been some discussion on the Performance board recently about the effects of cutting standard springs (on the 900). I personally would avoid this approach because I've heard negative things about it.
Since checking the alignment is cheap (my tyre shop will not charge for checking, only for correcting it), why not get it checked anyway? I wouldn't think you need to buy new tyres first.
If the alignment is badly out and you have it fixed, then you can buy new tyres with more confidence, knowing that you may well have fixed the problem.
