and have a car (91 cdt) with 100k in which the head gasket blew out. Like yours, it had cheapo coolant used for years, it failed to the outside, and never lost compression or started burning coolant or oil. I did the job myself, and the gasket looked just like the ones on TT's site.
Think about this for a minute: these turbo cars generate tons of heat, which the cooling system must handle. For relatively small engines, they are incredibly powerful, and generally are willing to rev pretty high. Add to this the possibility of bum gaskets from the factory, and we get 100k or less from the gasket.
The good news is that the new replacement gaskets are really good, and dexcool works like a champ. Chances are that your cylinders, rings, and valves are all in great shape. Now you don't have to worry about the gasket, ever!
