My 91 9kT came with a professionally disabled alarm:
Disconnect the big plug from the alarm's ECU (electronic control unit).
Use a Scotchlok connector to SHORT the two heavier guage wires at one end of the connector. (Sounds vague now, but it'll be clear when you're holding it in your hand.) I believe these wires feed the ignition. Easily proven: Disconnect the ECU then try to start.
My opinion, for what it's worth, is buying a used alarm ECU from a 93 (A "yellow box" ecu, see Townsend's notes) is well worth it. The alarm, when working, is about as painless as you can imagine and works pretty well. Get a used ECU from Saabsavior or any other one of our sponsors, plug it in and follow Townsend's procedures for calibration.
If your alarm indicator light is working, it is a snap to calibrate the alarm by Townsend's instructions. If your alarm light is out, you might want to visit Radio shack for a similarly sized LED. (I grabbed a nice yellow one, soldered it in backwards--reversed it, and it works great.)
end of my 2 cents.
