I did much searching on this board before I put Bar's Leaks in my '95. I found a few people who had problems, but I think all of them were having the same exact problem. They put Bar's in used coolant and had a thermostat that was at least a few years old. I don't recall reading about anyone ever having a problem provided they changed coolant and thermostat prior to starting the use of BL. Maybe I'm off base here, someone correct me if I'm wrong. However, I don't see the logic in blaming Bar's Leaks if you're not starting with a properly maintained cooling system (regularly flushed and replaced coolant, T-stat less than 3 years old, etc).
I drained, flushed, relpaced T-Stat, installed MB Coolant and Bar's Leaks 3 mos ago...no problems whatsoever. However, it looks like the heater core is too far gone for BL to do it any good, still leaks a tiny bit.
