This is not an uncommon phenomena but I have not seen alot of issues with Saabs. The phenomena is called tramlining. Basically the tires like to follow the road, so that when the encounter a crest, ruts etc they feel a bit squirrely. Brand of tires have alot to do with it in my opinion. Shorter profiles with stiff sidewall amplify the effect. I have also found the tires with a solid or semi solid center tread block are the worst. Widening the tires further amplifies the effect but I believe the tire design has the main impact. I'm afraid with performance tires it's a side effect.
One thing too note is that play in the steering makes the effect dramatically worse. Check to make sure your end links, ball joints and front bushings are in good shape. If your complaining about the tire swap then more than likely you also have some mechanical problems/slop underneath.
