... that a dying blower can have an adverse affect on the fan controller with an intermittant short that draws higher amps (a sign of this would be "gusty"ness). I've seen the complaint a couple times here.
Also, the fan is not meant to run at a full 12V, which it is with the jumper. The highest output from the fan controller is 5 volts. I am currently waiting for a new (used) ACC unit as the old one was what (apparently) fried the fan controller (3 times in 2 weeks).
I only run the fan when I need it for defrost or whatever and control it by inserting or removing the blower fuse (#6 - 30A) with the engine off. Don't pull it or insert it with the car running or you may damage the connecters from arcing. When I run it for awhile at 12V, as I did this morning, I have a pretty warm fuse when I'm done.
