I suspect that your Indy is suggesting that you put on rebuilt calipers, rather than rebuilding the calipers himself. Although you can buy seal kits for calipers for about $20 per caliper, most people will buy a rebuilt unit for about $70-$100, because, after all, we are talking about brakes. A fairly important safety item!
If you decide to rebuild the brakes yourself, you'll need a source of compressed air to get the piston out. Plus, if there is corrosion on cylinder walls, the caliper may not be rebuildable.
If you can change the pads on the brakes, you can most likely change a caliper. Bleeding the brakes will require another person if you don't have a pressure bleeder, but other than that it is pretty straightforward. Be careful not to bang up the ABS sensor, but other that there is nothing unusual about the procedure.
