In my experience, a small amount of corrosion on the walls of the cylinder is not so much of a problem - providing that the seal groove is corrosion free and the piston is undamaged. It is permissable to clean up the piston with a 1200 grit wet and dry paper but if the piston surface is damaged in any way then the caliper must be discarded. When rebuilding the caliper, make sure that your work area is scrupulously clean and that you also only use new brake fluid or brake assembly grease to assist in assembling the parts. When sliding in the pistons they should go in with light hand force. If they do not, remove the piston and make sure that the seal is sitting in the groove OK. After rebuilding the calipers, keep a close eye on the brake fluid level over the first few weeks.
I have rebuilt dozens of calipers and have never had one leak.
Good luck
