Greetings from Finland ! I bought my first Saab a week a go. It's a -94 CSE 2,3 FPT with 90kmiles and full dealer maintenance records. Here're a few questions:
1) The temp gauge fluctuates a bit, maybe 2-3 mm -constantly up and down. In addition, while idling at stand still the temperaure raises a bit, half way between the horizontal normal position and the beginning of the red zone. That's where the elect. fan kicks in. Is this normal or am I running with a partly stuck thermostate? It was replaced with the coolant 20kmiles and a year ago.
2) The oil pressure light is out. How can I remove the instrumet cluster to replace the bulb? Where's the sending unit located in the engine?
3) The BPC valve acted up when I bought the car. Too much boost and fuel cut off, the works. The prev owner drove very carefully... I tried WD40 and carb cleaner to free the stuck valve w/o success. The tried pure silicone oil, filled the whole valve with it and let soak a few hours. BINGO ! It works again. Any preventive maintenance needed for the expensive little thing?
4) I saw a recall (ALLDATA) regarding fuel filler hoses (March -94, tsb # 03940447). Anybody know what this is? I get fuel smell when ever I fill up all the way to the top. No obvious leakages or defects. The smell is in the trunk also but disappears after the first 100 miles.
Thanks, Tapani
