Getting the new one on isn't that hard as long as you have also unclamped the sway bar from the frame. Remove the balljoint bolts, lower the control arm, fit the link to the sway bar, put the link end through the control arm (having fitted upper bushing and washer). Tighten the link to the sway bar, re-install the ball joint bolts. Use a floor jack under the balljoint to raise the control arm so the you can fit the lower bushing, washer and nut. Tighten to spec. Done.
Just did all this, and yes, I snapped off the #*^&%$% link on one side. I thought the sway bar bushing clamp on the frame was much more of a pain because of the tightness of getting a wrench/socket on the back bolt.
