leather seat, then it is too loose.
That has been my rule of thumb about how tight a baby seat should be.
I have used Century 2000 seats for both my then babies. The center lap belt in the 9K is perfect for a single car seat. You can seat two adults of reasonable side on each side too.
Then iteratively tighten the lap belt with YOU sitting on it or with your body weight push with you kneel then latch the belt.
The seat should be tight with no one sitting on it. It should wiggle little when you try to rock it or push it side to side.
If you are using the baby seat almost permanently, I would suggest putting one or two bath towels nicely folded UNDERNEATH and/or the BACK of the car seat. The towels is to minimize any possible indentation to your nice seat, place them at contact points. You will get some indentations but they should disappear quickly after removing the seat (a few days after years of use).
Good luck and have fun. Get some carpet cleaner handy too :-).
