bad boost update

Thanks everyone for their input. I checked the compression and apart from #3 I get readings of 30 psi (initially) which then goes up to 130 psi. # 3 reads 75 initially and then 140psi. Guess that means the engine is basically tired. I can get a replacement engine with 145 k for C$ 900, but I also need a new clutch while everything is out of the car. The shop quoted me between C$2,500 and 3,000 (ca. US $ 1,800) for the entire job. This is what I paid fore the car three years ago.
I have to make a decision here, should I go ahead or buy another car? My question: is it worth while to put this kind of money int a car with 425,000 k (163k miles)? It's well maintained, on its first transmission, body is ok (BC car with minor rust on doors)and has good leather interior.
Any ideas?
Again, thanks for yr suggestions.
