I'm going to purchase a dedicated set of wheels & snow tires this week in preparation for another New England winter and would like the list's input on the captioned..

Both tire packages are essentially priced the same (assuming 205/60-15) so I'm looking for some feedback on which tire would be better given the following:

1. I live in New England and commute about 15 miles each day through essentially all backroads.

2. Last year, I relied on the Pirelli P4000s that came with the car and driving in icy and snowy conditions was downright scary, even w/TCS.

3. I'm an aggressive driver in all conditions but realize that I will need to tone it down on dry pavement with snow tires (v. my current 215/50-16s that I run during spring/summer/fall).

4. I'm looking for a serious snow tire so I can give my girlfriend a run for her $$ in her car (A6 2.7T 6 speed w/Blizzak LM-22 tires).

Also, how do the WS-50s handle in heavy snow and/or ice once the multicell layer has worn away??

I realize that Hakkas are a great alternative to these tires but I have a friend who can get me a very good discount at The Tire Rack.
