Power loss on left turn '89 9kS - This is just wierd

OK, I've been having problems for a couple weeks with rough starting and serious hesitation in the 1500-2200 RPM range. If I accelerate slowly, it's fine. If I step on it, it revs to about 2000 RPM and no further for several seconds.
I have checked all vacumn lines with my MityVac - all good
I have cleaned the throttle plate, intake and AIC
Tonight I replaced the AMM and it actually got worse and a new wierd thing started happening. Besides the rough start and hesitation (which is somewhat better), after I make a left turn, for about 10 seconds I lose ALL power. The idle drops very low (200-300 RPM) and I basically coast until the revs come back in 10 seconds or so. What is THAT all about???
I have an LH 2.4 system. I understand that the ECU is self adjusting? It 'learns' as systems change? How can I re-set the ECU to make sure it's not just leftover crap from other bad components?
I think I'm pretty good at intuiting this stuff, but I'm stuck.
Any and all help appreciated.
