For exceptional winter handling check out the Saab Special Winter Off-Road Handling Package (sorry , I do not have the part number). This consists of a pair of foot wide , meter long fibreglass skies that are strapped to the front tires , special lugged snow chains for the rear and a kit of parts that converts the 9000 to rear wheel drive with belts and pullys etc.I have found it expedient to dispense with these last parts and simply strap the skis to the rear tires (facing backwards , of course), put the chains on the front and drive in reverse . You cannot go too fast on snow mobile trails anyway !
The look on the Skidoo diver's faces looking over their shoulders to see a pair of Saab tail & reversing lights reeling them in is worth the $900.oo
Saab does not reccommend driving on dry pavement with this kit .
The kit is unavailable in California .
