I hade same problem on my 85'. It was that way for years and never leaked.
If you are really anal about it, pull the head, drill out the piece with table-drill (make sure you fixate the head correctly so you don't damage the threads) and extract it (you probably won't be able to so you'll end up drilling whole piece off).
Then put in oversize helicoil in it and new studs.
Most of the time it isn't worth it.
I had same problems with my Porsche 911 but it was much easyer to do it , just lifted the car, took out all pins and helicoiled all twelve holes...they should helicoil those buggers right out the factory.
