Heater core confusion, late model 9000's

I opened up my aquarium armed with a print out of Quasi's writeup of the heater core / blower motor procedure. However, I found very few things in common. I did locate the evap housing bolt, the heater hoses, the heater control flap, and the bolts for removing the false bulkhead.
I was unable to remove the false bulkhead as it is attached to a very large grouping of wires that affix themselves to the outside through a large plastic elbow. Is there any way to remove these wires? I couldn't find where most of them disconnect. Also, it didn't look like the whole false bulkhead even comes off in one piece as indicated by Quasi's writeup.
Just in general, the scene under my hood looks very different from Quasi's pictures. I had trouble finding what he was talking about. Needless to say, I gave up and put the thing back together. It looked like removing the bolts that hold the blower motor in (which I didn't even find) would be quite difficult, as did the hose clamps holding the heater hoses onto the core.
I guess I just don't know where to start here. Does anyone have a later-model writeup, or do I really need to buy the Haynes manual? In the past, I haven't had any trouble tackling a number of projects on this car with nothing but basic instructions, but the scene under the aquarium cover looks so complex I'm not sure I want to mess with anything and risk not getting it back together.
