use to go bad, ABS accumulator can go bad. But if you are talking about hydralic pump, than it is expensive $1300.00 for a new one and 2-3 hours to replace. Or if it is the brake master cylinder. That one is also around $1100.00- 1200.00 plus the same amount of labor.
Hopefully the shop knows excactly what's wrong, or maybe they tell you the most expensive way to be on the safe side.
I use to install used ABS accumulators until I found out how often they went bad. No it's only new ones for me.
I have put a couple of used pump units in with good result, mainly because I knew where the old one came from. Our own boneyard.
