Had the sensor go intermittent on my wife's 93. Did it a couple of times and would restart after an hr or so. This told me it was heat sesitive. The dealer mechanic (a guy who knows Saabs extremely well) spent a whole pile of time and finally it failed for him long enough to trace it to the sensor. Intermittent problems occur and disappear without a trail in my work also so I had no surprise when they told me it took over 5 hrs. But the dealer I use is not just a car dealer he is a truly a Saab Man as he only charged me for what he considered as fair : 2.5hrs. Its an expensive little part. Honeywell makes the opto interrupter module that Saab places in the holder and attaches the wiring harness to. I'll replace the opto unit this winter for a spare. (Electronic supplier cost will be about $30.00)
