Bought a 97 Areo 5 speed last December. Had 39K miles and now has 70K. I had 4 900's in the eighties and early nineties, putting about 40K a year on them. As much as I enjoyed them, this Aero is the most enjoyable yet. Keep in mind that the Aero back seats do not fold flat and that the 9000 trunk floor does not come out flat to the bumper the way the old 900 2-doors did (my, that was a great design). I am 6,3 and definitely could raise the seat enough so that head room is a problem, but I am able to find a very comfortable position. I take frequent long trips (heading from Maine to upstate NY tomorrow) and I like this car the best of any of any brand I have had for long drives. As far as what years are best, I did a fair amount of research before buying last year, and found 96 and 97 9000's to have the best repair records. I use those reports to get an idea of the odds, recognizing that the luck of the draw is also involved. If you do sit in an Aero, try reaching into the back seat to make sure the difficulty of doing that doesn't bother you. I like the Aero seats so much that some of the drawbacks don't really bother me. Good luck.
