Lu,
I removed the Hi/Lo beam stalk/switch and the dash light switch from the circuit and the low beams remain on with the ignition off. Checking the current, I found #30 (reading the numbers on the bottom of the relay adjacent to the pins)read 12.5 volts in the headlight relay socket (large wide Red). Zero voltage readings on all other locations
Regarding your question about leaving the switch engaged when leaving the car, my answer is generally no however this problem started after the vehicle was left idling with the lights on for approximately 30 minutes. This car is currently sitting alot as it is not by daily driver and is being prepared to put back on the road.
I haven't checked the small yellow wire you refered to. Not sure what I shoud be doing with it but a wiring short seems logical.
Thanks for your help!
