Yes, you should be concerned. Inexpensive tranny problems grow into expensive ones, and they rarely go away by themselves (the problems, that is).
What's coming to mind is the govenor seals. The govenor sets the shift points, and if the seal fails, you can end up with some pretty strange shifting. There are pressure ports on the tranny an experience tranny technician can hook a gauge up to.
Find a tranny shop that works on ZF transmissions, and ask if they can checkout the govenor seals. The good news is that if you need the seal replaced, it can be done (relatively) cheaply - the transmission can be left in the car. The seal can be access by removing the left front wheel inner liner.
