When you turn left, the weight shifts to the right side causing the bearing to complain about the extra load it has to carry. Also, the noise should get noticably quieter on a right turn in this case (unless the bearing is about to lock up.)
I think you can find the bearing for around $100 and doing it yourself is not difficult. As Skippy says, search the board for some detailed descriptions of the procedure. (FYI - It took me about 3 hours to complete the job.) HTH
