I think it would be better to replace engine with a rebuilt one- in other words swap- than pull and rebuild yours. The high nickel content in the head reportedly and historically means little cylinder wall wear. If you do opt for rebuild, it would mean replacing rings (if worn) ,head gasket, timing chain, lower bearings, oil pump gasket. I would do heater core at the same time and blower fan motor. You would need more than a Haynes Manual- I would buy O.E.M. set from dealership. Andrews Saab might be able to help- I e-mailed you once about Grand Marais and Saabs if you remember. Good luck and think twice- I can think of better fun.
