Wow, this is going to be an interesting sales challenge to get the wife to agree on a Saab when she wants a Camry!

We're talking about 2 opposite kinds of vehicles:

Camry: Easy to own and cheap to maintain (my brother has one), but boring.

Saab: Great fun for getting good at DIY maintenance, but fun to drive - something that you already know!

If you can do the maintenance yourself to keep costs down and to keep reliability high (very important for Camry types), lets see what attributes a 9000 has that an "appliance car" type person could appreciate.

1. A 9000 with fold-down rear seats and rear hatch will carry more stuff than a Camry.

2. A 9000 would be a safer car in an accident.

3. The insurance on the 9000 might be cheaper.

4. Camry has a high theft rate.

5. The 9000 out-handles a Camry which helps safety.

6. Have her ride in a 9000 and watch how she appreciates the quiet, smooth ride.

7. Does Camry have heated seats? My wife LOVES that aspect.

8. Gas mileage of a 9000 might actually be better than Camry!

Of course, do this sales pitch while you're looking at a 9000. My wife was completely against Saab at first, because she associates Saab with the 900 which she thinks is ugly, while she liked the appearance of the 9000.

Oh, now have her um drive a 9000 Turbo. Merely explain to her that she's not allowed to enjoy it, but to only use this as a tool to get safely from point A to B.

There's alot at stake here, so don't flub it!

Hope this helps,
Keith.
