Oil pressure relief valve ok, problem not solved

Oil pressure is still low at first start of day at below freezing weather and light stays on for 15 secs on a friend's -86 9kT 300kkm.
Today I inspected the oil pressure relief valve, it looked perfectly good so I just put it back in.
One interesting point is a sound from the oil pump area, a buzz, that occurs at the same moment as the pressure light goes out.
It can get really cold here in the north but at the moment we're at just at -8 centigrade so 5W-50 oil should be all right.
Next suspect is the O-ring on the oil pickup tube to the oil pump joint. But before removing the timing cover it would be nice to hear some opinions!
