Cabin temperature sensor and headlights

Two small problems developed on the 94 CS I hope enthusiats out there can straighten me out.
The cabin temperature sensor spins with an annoying noise. Pulled the coin holder/cup holder tray to remove the sensor. Cleaned the electrical motor inside out of lint and dust. The noise is still there. Is it time for a new one?
My driver side high beam is out. The symptom is when I flip the high beam, both the low and high beams on the driver side go out. Yet the driver side high beam light bulb appears to be good. I think my driver side back-up light has been out for a while too. (I say "appears" because I don't want to spent too much time out in the cold too long looking at it. Nor would I want to work on the car in the unheated garage unless it is absolutely required. In either case, I can keep driving the car without them functioning correctly.) This resulted in the pictogram to be on most of the time with two rear lights lit. Are they connected?
Advice is appreciated.
