since they are an always-on item. The sun sensor on the dash reads the ambient light and adjusts the brightness of the dash illumination. You can check this out yourself easily: just take your car into a dark garage and see what happens with the lightswitch in any position you care to choose. The dashlights seem to be ignition-switch dependent, not lightswitch dependent.
If you are into DRL's, there's a relay that can be had that just plugs into the relay panel (in the dash & above the glovebox on my 91 9kT, but can't tell you where it is on your more recent model). Since Saabs are in so many national markets, there are a lot of things designed in to allow adaptation to local requirements. The DRL system has been required for some years in certain European countries; hence the relay.
Sounds like you have a likely vehicle for good driving and relatively few problems. Good luck!
