The type that goes in the block in place of whats commonly called a freeze plug. As soon as you start the car, instant heat! The type that install in the heater hose seem to take a lot of work to make work right. You have to play with how high to mount them and the don't seem to put out as much heat. Lu is right on, if your looking for a faster start, a warm battery will do it. Just remember hitting the starter with too much power from the battery when its real cold can break a starter drive (been there, done that)
