Hi,
Congratulations on picking up one of the all time greats. Have had my 97 Aero for just about two years and love every minute of it.
A couple of pointers for preventive maintenance:
1. Change gearbox oil (not included in routine Saab maintenance but should, IMHO, be done every 10-15 K or so)
2. Fresh plugs a lot more often than factory says (NGK BCPR 7ES-11)
3. Have dealer plug in a boost gauge and check that max boost and base boost (simply press brake lightly so you hear the clicking sound, that will engage base boost) are according to spec: 1,08 bar (appr. 15.6 PSI) and 0,45 bar respectively. I'm assuming your car is a 5 spd.
4. Hooter valve (a.k.a bypass valve) is a cheap part that can wear out now and then. Have it replaced just to make sure. The Viggen variant fits right in there and has a slightly stronger membrane.
What you may want to do is to replace the rear bushings in the front wishbones. These have a tendency to wear out and will cause the car to wander during heavy acceleration.
Another good "upgrade" if you like is to replace the rear top engine mount (there are two of them at each side of a torque arm) with a solid rubber one instead of stock. This will improve shifting considerably under load.
Good luck with your car!
