It's a '79 900 gle, but same engine as on my 99 gl which is next on my list. Technically I should have posted this on the 900 bb, but I thought I would get faster help on the 99 bb since it's the b-engine I'm working with.
The engine is out of the car and on a stand.
I put a 6 inch long socket extension inside the engine carefully to keep the crank shaft from turning. My worship manual shows a hammer, but my hammer doesn't quite fit right.
I am using a 2 foot long, 1/2 inch bar with the correct size socket, but it sounds like I need to go get a longer pipe to get more leverage. I just wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly before proceeding.
This is the first time I have ever torn apart an engine for rebuilding, but it looks like something I can do with a little help now and then. Just wait 'til I get to the borg warner 35 automatic transmission :-)
Thanks for all the help!
