I'm adding a hot start kit to my 1976 99. After rebuilding the WUR, the pressure remains about 21 psi after 20 mins, and nearly 17 psi after 45 mins. However, the car still starts rough hot.
The recipe is drive up hills and such for 10 mins. Turn off and bake with hood closed for 20 mins. Try to start the car. It fires eventually, but it takes a bunch of cranks and it sputters like vapor lock. Then it runs perfectly. So I'm installing a hot start kit for peace of mind.
I purchased SAAB relay 85 68 271 off eBay. This is the one used in 900s from 1981 to 1988. It has 4 pins but only 3 are relevant.

50 goes to the yellow wire from starter motor. 31 goes to ground. 31b goes to the green wire on cold start valve. When you crank the starter, 50 gets voltage and pulses 31b to ground, pulsing the cold start valve no matter what the Thermo-time switch is doing. These pulses fire the motor enough to raise the plate significantly enough to clear the injector lines. This relay is going to be installed in slot 7, "Extra Relay" on the fuse box mount. It looks sweet because the orientation of that slot has the relay's diagram facing out. I linked the VW kit instructions where I gathered most of my information.
So the question I have for anyone who has the factory SAAB Hot Start Kit accessory instructions...
-> Where does the factory recommend splicing into the green wire from the cold start valve?
