There is another option, which I gotta say I haven't finished yet, but I've got the parts together, and I'm pretty sure it will work.

1. go to the wrecker, get a water pump for a ford tempo/probe v6.
these have hoses for both inlet and outlet, that is, they don't pump directly into the engine. there may be other pumps that are similar, but these are readily available.

2. go to the hardware store (or stay at the wrecker) and get a v-belt pulley that will fit on your new water pump.

3. fabricate a bracket which will bolt up to your driver's side motor mount, in the location where your power steering pump would go if you had power steering. hopefully you don't have power steering. (this is the part I need to do)

4. go to napa and get a belt. it might be possible to use a longer one and tension off the alternator, but there is room for another belt on my crank pulley, so I think i'll run a separate (short) belt.

5. while you're at napa get two rad hoses, one to go down to the new pump, and another to go up to the old pump inlet. you should probably remove and plug the old water pump holes as with the EWP.

That should be it; it has the added bonus of placing the water pump _below_ the outlet of the expansion tank, so the system should be less sensitive to coolant level.
I'm sure I'll have to monkey with pulley size, etc. a little bit, but the total cost will be in the neighborhood of $50, and parts for future rebuilds should be readily available.

I'd definitly rather rebuild the original pump if possible, but my shaft teeth are chipped, and a new shaft doesn't seem readily available.

just another option,

jordie
