There is nothing more frustrating than spending loads of time refurbishing a part only to find out the thing won't work. That's one reason I haven't upgraded any suspensions or drives yet, because I knew 100% that what I was using was going to work without any snags.
When I built the 73, I planned on using the tranny and engine from my 74 EMS donor car, which SHOULD have been a direct swap. I fought with major shaking at speeds above 5mph, which stumped me for three weeks. It ended up being the 74 EMS tranny was wider at the drives, causing the tripods to bottom out in the cups. All this meant was I had to pull the engine again and stick in the 73's trans, which at the time, had no idea if it was even any good, since I bought a non-driveable car(blown engine).
Sure, up-grading can be rewarding in the long run, but I hate set-backs and head scratching when things don't work out right.
