Okay, I just re-read what you and Mikael wrote, and the Lambda control is not part of all (or early) CIS systems, and I was seeing it as a CIS without considering the Lambda. Now I'll go back and see if I can find a drawing that shows the Lambda hook-up, which isn't in my basic Bosch CIS book which was written in Feb. 1974.
Mikael, any car with CIS _and_ a catalytic converter has a Lambda system, including all 1978 99 Turbos, and all California and most "Intermountain Region" cars sold. A few Federal cars were sold in the later area, but most came through California and had that emissions system.
Okay, found it in the discussion of the Lambda system in the '79 900 manual (not under the CIS section). Now that I see which valve you mean and see how it hooks in, it should be okay to swap the cold start and that Lambda control valve. I wasn't realizing you were talking about the Lambda system, thus my confusion.
