My good 99 story...

Went to Spokane to pick up my '80 99 that I had stored at my parent's home in eastern WA for two years. My son and I replaced the fuel pump, a bad relay and swapped my battery in and it started right up! Despite sitting for four years with bad gas! It only has 105,000 k miles on it and had a new head installed right before I purchased the car for 200 hundred from an old friend. Nice green interior. Body has the stripping and Saab label that was on the 80 99 that I purchased in '85. (Reverse Nike swoop on the upper half of car).
My friend is the original owner. In fact, I used to borrow this car in the early 80's to go on dates.
The engine runs like a top! Have put a hundred miles on it before we drive back to the coast to check for more problems but it is running quite nicely. The block weeps coolant when it is cold but seals up when warm. The water pump will be fixed (hopefully) when I return home. A set of shocks, alignment and some surface rust and this car will be a good around town runner and ski car. There is something nice and clean about a stock 99.
When I went to the Pull a Part to get a battery for the car they mentioned that they had a '78 99 in. For 36 bucks I got a complete grill w buckets, speedo cable without the VDO dohicky, hood latch cable and housing, heater core, heater switch, and Bosch fogs. The car was an auto with power steering. Somebody scored the power rack and the turn lenses.
