Back in 84 or 85 I bought a 1976 99 GLi from an auto dealer in Nebraska that I used to do a little contract work for. The old gold/orange Saab had been sitting in the very back of the used car lot for months before I asked about it. When I did ask they bluntly told me I didn't want that car, but I took it out for a test drive anyway.

I bought the car for a song, replaced both inner drivers myself, and drove it round trip to New York City and back a month later. It was my first Saab and my first exposure to that bizarre Sweedish engineering...an unforgetable experience.

After several 900s, I now have another 99 (Aaron's from the board here) in the garage....debating just what to do with. My neighbor Joe keeps trying to convince me it's ripe for major rust repair and use as a winter driver...I'm less motivated.
