You dont need to reengineer the whole thing but there are a few little fun things
1. swap the entire drive train , just pull the ball joints out of the controll arms and move em across
2. While the engine is out , replace the brake lines , invest in a flare tool since if you do this sort of conversion you often end up with non existiant brake lines and need to recycle the fittings
3. Buddy up with a plumber , you can solder some 1/2 inc copper to offset everything out of the way with a few bucks worth of elbows ( i can send a pic) , then you need to find an inline heater valve which you can work manually or with some creative use of brass rod and piano wire actually connect it to the controll
4. Fuel system
depending on what engine you use fuel supply becomes an issue .
since the later tanks dont actually fit in the earlyer cars a little creative fuel pump engineering may be required , what i ended up doing is mounting the internal fuel pump externally ( make some vibration mounts or the whole car will hum) and that somewhat worked but it had suction issues so i installed a 10 lb feeder pump to feed the high pressure pump.
there are a few other odball things like air cleaner mounts and stuff like that , im guessing i put around 200 hrs doing the swap , but i changed the whole interior as well .
you will have to nearly re wire the entire engine bay which can be somewhat painfull but in the end its well worth it
p.s. anyone have a straight front steel bumper for a 71?
