I take a small peen hammer and tap back the lower left portion of the booster to create an indention. I think John Wirt wrote down the measurements we calculated when we fabricated pieces to insert into the firewall (rather than taking a sledge hammer to the thing). I'll have to ask him. It was about an inch in, 4 inches across for the water pump. Depending on the crank pulley you end up using, you really don't have to go back much further than that at the lower portion. you can ask Rowan for pics or measurements as well. The B-motor is heavier than an H motor by quite a bit. Add in the 16V head, then the turbo weight and you are still less than a turbo B-motor, that always came with the quicker ratio manual rack. Too much power and under full boost beware of gutter dives, but all in all, it feels fine. I use SPG springs and a sway bar in the rear to keep things a little tighter and I much appreciate the improvement. I had a Turbo B in a '76 wagon back with stock suspension and that care went everywhere. Less work to keep it under control with the looser steering ratio, but not all that fun. (though the lag to boost was always exciting.)
Good luck...and I am still interested in anyone else's methods for accomodating the alternator.
