This is usually caused by the inner driver cups being worn, with the fix being to reverse them (put the right one on the left side and vis-versa). You can usually feel if there's a wear spot in the cup, so check before you reverse them - you might need to find replacements (need a fairly low miles parts car - most of the high mileage ones have already been reversed and are worn on both sides). Assuming you have all the original 1978 engine mounts, drive axles, etc. so the geometry is all the same. Also, the front engine/trans mount can be broken and cause shuddering.
