Are you sure you don't have things like the crank pulley or alternator rubbing on the firewall? Just the slightest bit of the alternator hitting the vacuum booster or the likes will definitely vibrate the car. It would be as if you had no engine mounts at all. When my front mount broke on my 16V '76 the alternator started hitting and I couldn't drive it more than a few miles due to thinking the whole shell of the car was about to fall off. It rattled all sorts of things free. Let us know how that looks, too.
