POR-15 sells a tank cleaning/sealing kit. If you can't find a good tank then you either deal with the walls of the tank flaking off and clogging your fuel pump pickup screen or you do the cleaning/sealing bit.

Now, this is only needing if your tank is bad. I've had some pretty old cars that have sat for a pretty long time with nothing wrong with the tanks. My present 99 sat for years in a field outside of seattle. The tank was half full when I got it. The tank is clean as can be. If your car has been sitting there with fuel in the tank, the rubber on the that connects the pump to the pickup screen is usually gone - slumped in a pile on the bottom of the tank just under the pump. If that is all you see in there, just drain the tank (there is a drain plug on the bottom right) and get in there and scrap the crud out. It will be like tar. Some fresh gas usually helps to disolve the stuff some.

your lines will probably be fine. The lines to your fuel injectors will probably be really brittle. VWs and AUDIs sport the same CIS system but used stainless braided lines. Some junkyard diving could solve the issue if you end up breaking one. Cleaning the injectors is described in the manuals for 99 fixing.
